Thank you again and we look forward to helping you lower your energy bills! Detailed information for Full Audit
Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step in lowering your energy bills, making your home more comfortable and helping the environment! Your complete satisfaction is very important to us, so we wanted to share some useful information about your upcoming home energy audit. For the most accurate energy audit, the technician will need to know your energy usage history. Although these numbers may be estimated, you will get a more precise report by supplying the actual amounts listed on your bills for the past 12-months. Please have this information ready for your technician, or you can send it electronically to: service@sdheat.net (please reference your address when sending). If you do not have copies available, you can get the information by contacting SDG&E by telephone at: (800) 411-SDGE (7343) or by registering for a FREE online account at www.sdge.com/customer/ During your energy audit, the technician will use a thermal infrared camera to locate the places heat-transfer is taking place in your home. To get accurate images a temperature difference between outdoor and indoor temperatures of at least 15⁰ F is needed. To accomplish this we ask that you begin heating or cooling your home at least 2-hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Normally heating is the least expensive option unless your appointment is on a hot day. The choice to heat or cool will be dependent on weather at the time of your appointment and your personal preference. You can easily check the weather by going to www.weather.com and entering your zip code at the top of the page. Your audit will begin with the technician gathering all pertinent information about your home and energy usage. Please feel free to ask any questions you have at this time. Then you and the technician will walk through your home so the technician can learn more about your home and the systems involved. You are encouraged to point out any “problem areas” or areas of concern. Your technician will then begin his audit by inspecting the homes insulation, heating and cooling system(s) and hot water heater(s). Once all the information is gathered a thermal scan will be performed and images will be taken of any areas of concern. Finally, please note that we will need to access your attic and or crawlspace during our visit to get a complete picture of your building envelope.
